Turquoise Eyes

Hello All!!!

Today I am going to tell you all how I managed this pretty turquoise blue eye shadow look.

I hardly ever wear color on my eyes just the standard neutral browns, tans and champagne. But not today folks.

I am very pleased with how this turned out.

For the main event I used my Be A Bombshell Eye shadow Quad in Bora Bora that I got in one of my Ipsy bags a few months back.

In the crease I applied the darker brown shown in the upper left section. On the lid I applied the lower left golden tan color all over the lid. And I was not neat about it.

Then comes the show stopper. I did my eyes first cause I am not neat when it comes to applying dark colors. But I did try to focus this in the center of the lid and not to go up to the crease.

I used L'Oreal Carbon Black Liner with Benefit They're Real Mascara paired with Mabelline Lash Sensational mascaras.

Then Viola done but the fallout was horrendous so thanks goodness for Foundation. I wore my Estee Lauder Double Wear. Concealer was Mabelline Fit Me Concealer for my under eyes and to cover the shadow that did not brush away.

I set my foundation with Rimmel Stay Matte powder in the shade Translucent and a new ELF product an under eye primer. Honestly I have not a difference with it but I continue to put it on.

I used the Benefit Hoola Bronzer on my cheeks, hairline and jaw bone. My Blush was Milani in Bellismo Bronze and Physicans Formula Pearl highlighter.

On my lips I wore Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lips in Pure Hollywood. A valentine's day gift that I hope to collect them all.

Again its a fun change of pace that I was pleased with and I felt like sharing with you all. Enjoy!!

Drugstore Make-up: Wet n Wild

Hey Guys!!

Please excuse my absence from here in the last couple of days...

But today I am going to show you all my new favorite and, dare I say affordable, find from the drug store. That's right Wet n Wild. Retails for $2.93 a trio at my local Walmart.

I know what you are going to say...cheap make-up = not good make-up.

I am here to show you differently. In the Wet n Wild trio they had 6 different options at my local Walmart. Of course I bought five only because the 6th Steal My Thunder was not in stock. I have a problem I'm aware.

Spoiled Brat: my first impression of this shadow trio was, "Look at the Pink" But uncertain how it would look on my skin tone. Oh boy was I wrong here. Below is a look I created with just this trio.

Next up, is I'm Getting Sunburned: Shimmer Shimmer! I just knew this would be gorgeous. This reminds me a lot of what can be found in the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. Similar shaded here.

Sweet As Candy: These are just pretty neutrals. On the back of the Trio is says it takes the guess work out of make-up and I would have to agree. I would match all 3 of these colors for an every day look. Again I am showing you a look I created with these shadows.

Walking On Eggshells: These are the perfect Kristin colors. Similar I am not going so far to say dups but similar to the Naked Basic Palette that I love. And for $2.93 only a fraction of the cost.

Silent Treatment: This Trio would be great for a dramatic smokey eye. That middle crease shade is gorgeous.

Like I said before I am bummed that I have the 6th trio Steal My Thunder to complete my set but it is just grays and blacks. I will get it one day I will not be complete until I have it.

The pigmentation of these shadows is amazing. The shadows are long lasting. The only down fall I see in them is I want more colors for that prices. Some Greens, Purples or Electric Blues would be a nice change of pace. Plus you just can not beat the price. I hope you try these Wet n Wild Trio out for yourself and let me know what you thing of them!!

Reuse Old Candle Holders

Hello All!

Today I am shaking it up and bring you all a little DIY. Occasionally I get crafty.

I figured this out from a Pinterest post I saw once you place candles in the freezer and that makes the wax ridiculously easy to remove. Now its recommended to remove before your significant other starts asking "Why do we have so many candles in the freezer?" :)

The process is really easy as soon as you have removed from the freezer take a butter knife and let your weeks frustrations out on the cold wax.

Once the wax and metal wick holders that they glue down for some crazy reason are removed from the jars you will want to clean them up. I like to take a paper towel dry worked fine to remove the black from the edge and remove the sticker label.

After that I ran them thru the dishwasher. I mean I suppose you could wash them by hand...

Then we are done. I find that I can use them for cotton balls, Q Tips, Make-up pads, brushes and more.

I hope you test this out. Kinda makes me feel good that I am reusing and re-purposing something rather than just throw it out. Let me know if this worked for you!

Minimalist Makeup

Ever have one of those days that your just not feeling the make up. But then you look in the mirror and your like "Oh Gawd. Girl, you have to put something on!" I mean there are children out there.

Today was one of those days for me. I am going to go through my simple and 'no make-up' make up look.

First off since I had two blemishes greet me this morning I knew it was necessity to cover those bad boys up. I used L'Oreal True Match Foundation with a concealer for my under eye circles. For the blemishes I used Maybelline Age Rewind to really cover those up.

New Maybelline mascara Lash Sensational and no eyeshadow. Next time I try this I may put some concealer on my lids with no shadow or primer. I felt that they were a little red and should have had concealer on throughout the day.

I did end up putting bronzer by Benefit their Hoola bronzer with The Balm cosmetics and Physicans Formula Pearl highlight.

But on my lips I just wore Nivea chapstick all day.

I think that if the day ever comes that I am a mom, and I dont have that much time to devote to my make-up, this will be a great way to look together but not spend a ton of time on it.

Let me know what you think of it.

February 2015 Ipsy Unboxing

Technically, I know this is an unbagging but that just sounded wrong to me.

If you are not already aware Ipsy is a subscription service that cost $10 a month and they send you 4-5 products sample to full size. These products can range from make-up, skincare and hair care.

So lets get started...

Eva-Nyc
Up All Night Volumizing Spray.

Says for added volume and texture. Protects from heat styling and for all hair types.

Seems like it would be a root bursting/heat protecting/sea salt spray. It comes in a spray bottle. I will try it out but honestly a little hesitant since these types of products tend to grease up my hair and weigh it down. I will keep you posted.

Hey Honey
Take It Off
Exfoliating Honey Peel off Mask.

I am in need of a good mask. I have read that honey does nice things for your skin. I hope it doesn't make me want to eat it though. :) I have included a second picture here to give you an idea of the size.

Coming up next...

Cargo Cosmetics
lip gloss

Its a pretty baby pink. It has a faint scent of bubble gum. Reminds me of the medicine that we were forced to take as children. Not sure it goes well with my fair skin. If you have any form of tan than it would look gorgeous. I would match this with a solid neutral eye. I look forward to wearing this in the summertime.

Model Cosmetics
Blush in Peach Bellini

This is a win. I am in love with this blush. I love the cute packaging. I love the color a beautiful peachy pink. I can't wait until tomorrow to wear this!

And finally

I have another product from 'Tini Beauty. The bronze eye I featured in Bronze Eye Look is from them.

Its an eyeshadow in the shade Pearl Fizz. Its a nice neutral Moonstone/Pearl shade. I like it because it is a great matte shade.

And that it for this month folks. I love my Ipsy bag and it a nice little treat in the mail once a month.

Bronze Eye Look

Hello Again!!

Today I am showing you all a Bronzed Make-up look I posted to my Instagram a few days back. Follow me if you aren't already @mrsmistretta1088

I went to the Secretary of State this morning to change my name officially. Exciting I know!!

Any ways I needed to do my hair and makeup for a new Driver License photo. And again for the 3rd blog post in a row I am using Urban Decay Naked Palette it really is an amazing palette. I used WOS on the lid with Naked 2 in the crease. Then over top of the WOS I used 'Tini Beauty Shadow Tint in Spiced Rum but not going over the crease.

For Foundation I am using L'Oreal True Match with Maybeline Concealer and Flower Beauty Skincognito on the forehead, cheeks and around the nose. Just used the foundation stick for additional coverage. Rimmel Stay Matte setting powder in Translucent.

For my blush I am using Miliani Baked Blush is Berry Amore with Physician Formula high lighting Pearls.

And for my lips I using Rimmel Exaggerate in Enchanted ( I need to purchase a new one of these) running low as of today, with MAC Syrup.

Any who I feel that this look helped me achieve the best Driver License photo ever. But please ignore the wind blown selfie in this post. Not everyone can be perfect all the time :)

I hope you all enjoyed!!

Top Knot Bun Cheat

Hey Guys!!

Today I have a hair cheat for you all. Top knot buns are all the rage or at least they were last fall/winter is that trend over with? Oh well in this post I am going to show you how I achieve this look.

Now I cheat and I am not ashamed to admit it. Here's how it goes...

I start with a high ponytail and smooth out the rest of my hair. Once you have the ponytail on top of my head I split the tail into four sections.

With each section I tease the near the part where the hair tie rests. After I am done with one section I flip the rest of the hair under and secure with a bobby pin. I continue these steps with the rest of they hair. After that is done I try to pull apart the tease to give the illusion that its one large bun with no large gaps on the bun.

I find that this works great with my thin and fine hair. I prefer a large bun and if I were to wrap it around the base of they high ponytail it would not give me the size I prefer. I know I could buy a donut to put over the base of my hair but this just works best for me.

The makeup in this look is Benefit POREfessional Face Primer and Urban Decay Eye Lid Primer. And a palette I clearly need to step away from Urban Decay Naked Basic palette Naked 2 in the crease. WOS (Walk of Shame) on the lid. And Faint in the Outer V.

Of course the standard Benefit They're Real Mascara and L'Oreal Carbon Black liner.

For my foundation I used Estee Lauder Double Wear with Maybelline Age Rewind concealer.

My blush is NARS Orgasm with Physicians Formula higlight. And Rimmel Exaggerate liner with MAC's Plumful.

I hope you enjoyed this cheat and attempt it for yourself.

Dark Smokey Eye: Perfect Valentine's Day Look

Hey Guys!

Today I am showing you a new favorite of mine dark eyes. This is definitely a night time look and I think would be perfect for Valentine's Day date night.

So lets get started...

First and most important I feel APPLY YOUR EYE MAKE-UP FIRST. I am using black eyeshadow in this post and when I applied it now matter how careful I was I had fall-out. Causing me to have to wipe away with another make-up brush the fal-out under my eyes. If I would have had finished my foundation before applying my eye make-up it would have ruined the foundation and caused me to start over.

Using Porefessional Face Primer and Urban Decay Eyeliner Primer I then started with Urban Decay Naked basic palette. First focusing on my crease I applied Faint all in the crease following Naked 2 all over the lid.

Now here comes the kicker. Using a separate brush I applied Crave all over the lid trying to avoid going past the crease of my eye. Like I mentioned before I did have fall-out with this step and I did need to use a big fluffy brush to wipe it all away.

After the I used my L'Oreal Liquid liner in Carbon Black and Benefit They're Real Mascara. But black on black eh?? So I found a product that I received in last months Ipsy bag. It was Hikari in no shade apparently but its a pretty silver/grey eyeliner over the top of my black liner.

Another good thing about applying foundation as a second phase in this look is it covers up all imperfects that we just made with the black shadow. In this look I used my Lancome Ultra foundation with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair.

On my lips I am using MAC Hug Me and Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner in Addiction.

Here is the finished look. Please let me know what you all think of it. Thanks!!

How I Clean My Make-up Brushes

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am discussing how I clean my make-up brushes. This is a crucial step if you are a make-up junkie like myself. Not only does it help prevent the spread of bacteria but I also helps the you make-up brushes last longer

I usually clean my 1-2 times a month using Paper towels, Olive Oil and Anti-bacterial Soap. I am sure after posting this picture every Italian household is cursing me. "Why are you using the good Olive Oil?!?" Well it was almost out and waste not what not.

But really any Olive Oil will do. They Olive Oil is going to leave the bristles nice and smooth and the anti-bacterial soap will kill off any bacteria left on the brush from our skin. Kinda nasty if you think about.

But here are the steps...

First gather dirty make-up brushes I like to do this over the kitchen sink.

Now with the Olive Oil place on paper towel, I like to fold into 4's, I rub the dirty make-up brush on the olive oil soaked paper towel until the brushes wipe clean.

Now after that we take anti-basterial soap in the palm of your hand and rub the brush that was justt being used on the olive oil paper towel.

After that I am going to use Hot-medium temperature water and rise off the soap from the brush. I like to try to avoid the part with the bristles touch the shaft (?? for lack of a better word) too much water there can cause the bristles to fray and possibly break off the brush.

Once the rest of the brushes are done I like to leave out overnight to dry and I am able to use them the next day.

How I Wear a Pony Tail with Extentions

Extensions I love them. How did I get by without them for so many years? This past Saturday I wore my hair in a high ponytail with my Bellami Hair Extentions.

The sectioning is the same, but since my hair will be up and less opportunity to conceal the wefts from the extensions it goes a little different. Usually I start sectioning below my ears but I started this time at the top of my ears.

I tease a the root of my hair in the section and FLIP THE EXTENSION. This is causing the extension to go with the hair when up rather than against it if put in the 'right' way. I repeated this with 2 more sections 3 weft pieces of hair.

So now the extension are in and we just need to smooth out the hair and secure with a hair tie.

For my makeup look someone should have stopped me 10 seconds before I completed my brows. Holy Brows! but I rocked it.

My eyes were the Naked 3 palette with Buzz all over the lid and Dust in the inner corner. Very Pink.

My foundation was Estee Lauder Double Foundation with Maybeline Age Rewind concealer in light pale.

And because I was feeling extra fancy I put on some false lashes.

On the lips I wore Rimmel lip liner sightly overdrawn with Rimmel Lacquer in Nova.

This is a fun look. It pink and girly. I love the extensions since it makes me feel like I have hair for days.

Thanks for checking at the blog!

January 2015 Favorites

Today I am showcasing my favorites for the month of January. Just a quick little show of what I loved this month.

First is a Nude Tude palette by The Balm I bought this is awhile back and decided to give it another shot. I am very happy that I did.

I have been reaching for this palette very frequently this month. Obsessing over the shades Sexy, Seductive, Stubborn and Stand-offish

Second on the favorite list is Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers in the shades Stellar and Nova. Can we take about pigment? And long lasting? I have had these for a while now and forgot about them. Shame on me. They are gorgeous!

My favorite foundation for the month has been Estee Lauder Double Wear. This is an all time favorite.

Finally, a favorite blush for the month of January was Milani baked blush in the shade Berry Amore. Its pretty pink, coral, with some sparkle blush.

These are the products that really wow-ed me in January. Several were re-discoverys of products that I forgot I had. See it pays to reorganize every so often ;) Let me know if you have tried any of these and what your thoughts on them were.
